‘William Eggleston’s Guide (Ian Ray Edition, 2011)’ is a recreation to the exact dimensions and approximate materials of the original book published by William Eggleston in 1976. In place of both the text and images, is a concise interpretative, but non-narrative, description of the original images and text. Each of the 49 photographs is described by what is depicted with particular attention to the colours captured and presented by Eggleston. The book text (title. essay and biography) is described by its purpose and the colour of page it appears on. The book is displayed with an unopened cellophane sealed copy of the original William Eggleston’s Guide, (The Museum of Modern Art, New York; Facsimile edition (21 Oct 2002)). |
